Are you ready to showcase your talent and passion for bellydance? We invite dancers of all levels to participate in an exciting competition that promises to be a celebration of DANCE, movement and of course....... lots of FUN!
Yes, this year at Celebrating Dance festival we are having our second competition. Come and push yourself, give yourself a goal to work towards and improve your dance. Over come insecurities and strive to be the best you can be!
This competition promises to be fun and welcoming, yet provide you with so much opportunity of growth!! There will be lots of personal feedback provided and of course the chance to WIN AMAZING PRIZES and be CROWNED the Queen/King of Celebrating Dance Festival 2025
The competition will take place on the SUNDAY EVENING of the festival.
There is only ONE CATAGORY/competition, it is open to solo performers of all levels

** Round 1: Your Chosen Song **
You get to select your own music (max 3min 20sec) and perform a captivating routine that reflects your unique style and creativity. This can be of any style of bellydance you like enjoy or feel best showcases YOU (Baladi, Oriental, Turkish, Egyptian, Iraqi, Fusion, any style..).
Props are allowed - except live fire props.
You will be judged on, performance skills, technique, musical interpretation, stage presence, costuming and more (an example of the judging sheet will be sent you ahead of the competition so you know how the judges will be marking you)
After the competition you will receive the judging sheets with all the comments and scores, which you can then use as a personal resource for growth and improvements. All participants will also be given an opportunity to have one on one feedback given to them personally by the judge Zara after the competition (this will be doen on ZOOM meetings)
The Judges will then score and select from all participants 6 FINALIST these finalists will go on to the 2nd round
** Round 2: Improvisation with LIVE BAND **
Part one, round 2: a classic song: The finalists will be invited to the stage to pick a song at random from our curated list of Bellydance Classics, they will then perform to this song WITH THE LIVE BAND in the Final and dazzle the audience with an impromptu performance.
Part two, round 2, a LIVE tabla solo: Once they have finished their selected song they will then continue with a ~2min live improvised tabla solo.
You will be judged on, improvisation skills, natural performance skills, technique, musical interpretation, stage presence, costuming and more (an example of the judging sheet will be sent you ahead of the festival so you know how the judges will be marking you)
the names of the of the songs that you will be picking from, will be sent to all participants 2 months before the competition so you can get used to the songs and know them, therefore you will be ready to IMPROVISE (or do structured improvisations to the song). The songs will be bellydance classics (of different styles) from singers like Umm Kalthoum, Abdel Halim Hafiz, Warda and Ahmed Adaway.
You will receive the judging sheets with all comments and scores after the competition, which you can then use as a personal resource for growth and improvements.
All FINALIST will also be given an opportunity to have one on one feedback given to them personally by Mellisa Gamal (on the day 10min max) and with Zara after the competition on ZOOM (30min)
Participants are allowed to change costume between rounds.
The scores will then be added up and the THREE WINNERS ANNOUNCED

Competition Entrance £55, or ONLY £40 when booked at the same time as your festival packages

Entrance to compete is £55
NOTE : if you book the Competition Entry at the SMAE TIME as your accommodation/weekend package you can get a £15 discount, but they must be done at the same time.
To enter the competition you must have at least bought a day pass for Sunday (you can purchase above), discounts are not given on single day pass.
